Okay, I’ll come out and say it: New York Fashion Week can be pretty vain and materialistic….but that’s what we got ourselves into the first place, right?! We participate in this week of highly elevated pomp & circumstance because we love every minute of it and we prefer to dive head first in the concrete pool known as “the fashion industry.”
But one thing is for sure: The Go Red Fashion Show benefitting the American Heart Association will put it all into perspective.
Every year, the Red Dress Fashion Show kicks off New York Fashion Week by having celebrities walk the runway in red dress to help raise awareness for the American Heart Association. This year, the grand fete was emceed by Star Jones, who shared her own testimony of battle heart disease and suffering through open heart surgery. The runway was adorned by some fabulous gals such as Victoria Justice, Daphne Oz, Colbie Calliat, Joan Jett, and my personal favorite, Bravo TV’s own Nene Leakes.
I couldn’t help but leave the show feeling a little bit empowered…and it reminded me that despite all the runways, and the trends, and the hashtags, and the celeb spottings, that when women are strutting their stuff in a showstopping red dress and its all for a good cause, anything they wear looks fabulous!
