When it comes to entertaining, I GOT IT FROM MY MAMA.

I remember being young and always watching her prepare for a big dinner party: She left no detail unnoticed. The food was always made with love. The home was warm & cheerful, and she ensured every guest felt welcomed. She was, and still is, the MOST PERFECT, GRACIOUS, & GENEROUS HOSTESS.

Fast forward several years, and out of all my mother’s qualities, this is one that I am so grateful that she passed along to me! She taught me how to set a table, how to mix & match my different chargers and plates, and how to do it all with grace & style! And while I absolutely LOVE entertaining people in my home, the part I love the most is the decor that makes a party come alive! And whether it’s my mother’s home or my home, MacKenzie-Childs has always been a big part of throwing the ultimate dinner party!

So imagine my mother’s excitement when I was able to invite her to Aurora, New York with me back in the end of March to see how her favorite tabletop pieces, home decor, and cooking utensils from the MacKenzie-Childs collection are designed & manufactured?! (FYI: She was on cloud nine, but wouldn’t any mother be?!) From the pottery molding, to the hand painted ceramics, to the fabric & sewing department, Mom was living her best life….she actually joked that this would be a perfect place for her to come work once she retires from eduction one day! She couldn’t believe her eyes….she kept saying over and over, “This is just incredible! They artisans are SOOOOOO talented!” I never really thought Mom could fall more in love with MacKenzie-Childs than she already was, but this experience really enabled her to see the creative process, which I know makes her love those special pieces in her home EVEN MORE!

But aside from all the MacKenzie-Childs mania, the time that we were able to spend together that week was BEYOND SPECIAL. It reminded me how much I look up to my mother, respect her, and am so honored to be her daughter. After 36 years of trying to think of clever things to do with her for Mother’s Day, this experience really took the cake! And the coolest part about it all was that MacKenzie-Childs was smack dab right in the middle of it all…and they will continue to be every time we play hostess!

Check out this fun video that we filmed while staying at the Inns of Aurora! Mom is a little camera shy sometimes, but I think I cracked enough jokes to warm her up a little bit!
