The old saying is always true: Practice makes perfect.  Athletes stay in shape and go to the gym. Actors will rehearse.

But fashion bloggers…how do we stay “in shape” with our career and practice so that we can become better at what we do? WE PLAY IN OUR CLOSETS AND PRACTICE “NEW LOOKS” so that we can share the with our readers!

Recently on a cold and dreary day in NYC at The Empire hotel, I did just that. I was finding myself kindof “stuck” with what I brought in my suitcase, so I dedicated a couple hours to mixing, remixing, matching, and rematching a couple looks.  I also played around with some new makeup colors, as well as this new half up, half down top knot!

Have you dug around in your closet or makeup drawers lately and found some new inspiration?!

I love this! That’s exactly what those of us who love fashion do. We take out our wardrobe, dump it onto our bed, and experiment with a good playlist in the background. I have to admit, I’m slacking on experimenting with beauty looks. One of my favourite experiment discoveries was a military vest that looks really good as a dress which is my new favourite outfit (and what I just shared on my blog coincidentally).

I love this! Sometimes it’s just a lot of fun to see what you can come up with in your closet. And when that fails……you go shopping;)

Courtney, I love this look! What size did you purchase in this sweater? I am trying to gauge what size I need to buy.

I have been doing a lot of experimenting in my closet, too. It really helps extend a wardrobe and makes getting dressed in the morning faster.
    I love the ruffled sweater

I really like your blog, but you have got to fix your hair. It looks like a bad 80’s mess with the bad blonde and 5 inch roots. Go back to being brunette, it was much prettier. I think you will look back at your “blonde” pictures and cringe. You are not a blonde and that color isn’t even natural.

    I do the same thing!

Beautiful knit. The asymmetrical ruffles are so pretty. I just may have to purchase this piece. You look great. Perfectly casual, perfectly stylish.

Love this look so simple and ultra chic. I started a blog on how to look as fabulous as you but using clothes from thrift store and giving it an edge… And a twist. wearing clothes with a hint of the unexpected. Whether it’s on price or having juxtaposition with the pieces… Hopefully you can visit and give me some feedback!

Remixing and reimagining with items we already own are key to making the most of your wardrobe, especially if you’re on a budget and trying to be green as well. That’s also why its good to buy versatile pieces (my justification to my husband for every new thing I buy, LOL: “Look how versatile it is!” 😉
I enjoy seeing your ideas here – keep it up!
